When you search for "love" on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, you are exposed to a wide variety of content across different mediums—texts, photos, and videos. From the image of a couple tying the knot and looking forward to a new future, to a crumpled diary lamenting the painful longing for someone absent, or a short film clip featuring a heroine casting herself into the sea to remain an eternal unsolved mystery in someone’s life. Sometimes, the kaleidoscope of love—often far from the results we anticipate—floats in the digital space, curated by algorithms.
Expressions of love, through words or actions, are not so different. Like harsh words blurted out defensively out of a fear of loss, or words of affection and concern that turn into nagging and result in a firmly closed door, like those of a misunderstood family. Love, in all its forms and sizes, is crafted from misunderstanding and completed with understanding. (Excerpt from the preface)
